Breathing much better today - lets hope it lasts. Since I haven't really been able to do anything significant on anything Ford lately, I'll just sit back and follow along everyone's progress. I promise not to drool too much...
FOr what my 4x4 s10 is, I love that sucker, 20mpg and 4x4? I am very happy with that little beater....lol I hope my son takes it from me so I can have the Monte Carlo SS!!
Speaking of brakes, (need them for Bandit) Are the ceramic brakes really worth the price? They have simi metalic, organic and ceramic brakes, is the price difference for the ceramil really worth it? I have done the ceramic on my Cadillac, S10 4x4 and even my Monte carlo ss., but are they that much better? just askin, not trying to start anything haha
Jeff - I put ceramic on my '03 Ram just because someone was running a sweet deal on them and really didn't see that much of a difference in braking. If I recall, ceramic pads are supposed to be the bee's knees for applications that generate high braking temperatures leading to brake fade. The only difference I noted was that the ceramic pads didn't leave the wheels black with brake dust. I also believe that they are easier on the rotors in terms of wear.
I use semi-mets on my trucks, but ceramics on the wife's 4Runner since they were OEM and it has the factory high performance brake package on it.
Good morning everybody!!!
Wagner brand Metallic brake pad fan here! They don't break the bank to buy them, low on break dust, and the hold up well. But it's always up to how a person drives and not hard on brakes..
i dont have much of a opinion on brake parts.. i like just american made oem style pads.. i used others and didnt find much difference on my type driving and use.. no brakes last long on these hills and pulling trailers and i dont like ones that cut into my rotors
I have a rule of thumb to go by on brakes. The cheap pads wear like oatmeal. The super expensive one with a lifetime warranty wear the rotor instead of the pad, so I go with the "middle of the road" costing one. The size of the front pads and calipers are insane on the 3/4 ton front ends. The rear drums are likewise, huge. You don't need the super-duper pads. You have giant brakes with half a square foot of friction area per wheel.
