I can't remember but I think I had it on the old bed of my crew cab. I hated the molding and tore it all off. Actually it was the first thing I did to my crew cab. LOL
I noticed the missing piece on some trucks and agree it looks like it is missing.

The p.o. started to remove the molding on my truck on the passenger side rear door so I thought o.k. I'll do the rest. Then I looked at the driver side and realized the truck has been repainted and it was bubbled and peeled a little under the molding so my molding is going to stay until I get the truck repainted.

Here is mine which I am in the process of doing a resto-mod.

Here is the build thread, it will be a long process doing this on a budget/while going to college and working on other projects.
My dad picked her up back in early 2000's with 80k miles and I started driving her with 104k, I just got up to 115k coming back up to school(parked for the snowy winter).
C6 kevlar disks and HD pump
GV OD
ATS turbo/ K&N cleanable filter
sun visor
diamond plate running boards, bed caps, bed liner, tool box
class IV hitch
tekonsha brake controller
2000w inverter
converter
APC UPS
Mini ITX desktop in center console/gps

wintenna(soon to be hooked up to DTV converter)
FM antenna relocated to roof
