When I dump the clutch...to get a tire smoking it bounces off the rev.limiter...is this bad....I have no tach so it suck$...but im getting one ASAP.....Man i love these 3.0Ls.................
I think he means the engine revs up to the point that the rev limiter kicks in.
It really depends on what you mean by bad. In my opinion you are abusing the engine, clutch, tranny and driveline for no reason but it's your truck and when it comes time for repairs it will be your $$$$.
It just bounces off...like wont go ne faster in that gear. I know its bad i dont really do it often..i was jsut wondering. I dont have a tach yet...where do these 3.0Ls redline.......
There isnt much of a set redline, mie has a gas cutoff at about 5500 RPM's though. But its not really logical to even take it that high, 48000-5000 is about the highest it needs to be takin if your racing or something.
3.0L red line at 5500 rpm my stock tach says 6000 but it boucnes at 5500. if you shift at 5000-5250 you should stay with a 5.0 mustang untill midway through 3rd gear. havent tried aginst a 4.6 mustang.
bud i have hung with 5.0 till third. i dont know if they were stock or not. stick 5.0s get past me as im shifting into third but autos stay untill around 3400-3550rpm i dont look to much at the speedomater ,mosty the tach, but its a pretty much stock 3.0L 5speed. i have ony upgraded raido, subs, took of the cap. but have plans for a built 5.0 or a '01 cobra 4.6L super charged.
