Not only that but a carb can only be perfectly tuned for one temperature/altitude/air pressure/humidity at a time. You get it running one day, and it'll be out of tune the next. Best you can do is get it so it's generally good most of the time.
A nice, hot ignition sure helps to overcome a lot of that though.
