I have one on my build. I love it! Although I built the motor at the same time, I used the factory harness wires(one plug has the 12v start only 12 Power on and a ground) I used that and put a decent relay on my fender and removed all but oh about 3 wires from my motor. The rest is for my headlights and kc lights and cb, but I pulled everything out and it just seems so, empty. I highly recommend it.
I'm very curious how it'll affect emissions when I have mine done next. We have it every 2 years.
It's a straight up sniffer test, so they don't care what's been done to the engine.
I'm curious as to its effect on gas mileage. It was the first thing I ever did to mine and at the time was also fighting an intermittent egr valve. My data for the DUI install is all skewed.
Another thing I'm curious about is this. Try disconnecting your intake heat and see if you lose performance or if your ever present bog is still present. I made a heat provision and I swear it has minimal effect on how she operates.
Put my idi air cleaner on and a little at first then it goes away(cold).
Put the idi air filter in, a decent bog but goes away.
Put the cold air tube on and it's a little better.
take the air filter out and keep the cold air tube on, and it's a noticeable but better.
Tried a cone filter at the end of the tube and there was a little less then the air tube and filter.
Next step is to drive to AutoZone and get a hot air regular cleaner and try it.
Oh and my engine is deeper and I'd say has a little less power, so I might be getting over fuel issues too. My afr comes in tomorrow so I'll start all of that on Sunday and hope I don't hurt it driving around all day then an hour to a concert!
Unfortunately, I do have a wife that believes in this whole Valentine's day crap...

Air flow gets restricted, creating a rich condition, hence the bog-o.
That was my thought. Which is why I'm picking up the hot air big round air cleaner. The other one was like the stock air cleaner with the tube, except about 4 inch around.

My comments are not off topic. granted he was talking to ab, I have the same issues.
I had to go so I didn't get much else done.
but yes . Would continue to drive and it would go away, but now today it was terrible. So I parked it and left. Really needed this trip up here though...my trucks is begging for a long drive to help break in.
My choke could be bad,but it's a brand new quickfuel 600 and as soon as I touch the gas it kicks up to either a grand or 1200rpm depending on how much I moved the throttle.
As far as ignition being subpar, I hope it isn't!
I still have somewhat of a bog when the engine's cold. I think I'm simply going to have to live with that due to the fact that all of the factory cold weather equipment is missing. That'll never be remedied unless I put some serious ingenuity into it (which I'm not up for). Otherwise, all of the bogs and issues I've had over the years are gone.
I can try to disconnect the intake heat. It'd be an interesting experiment. But I'm not sure when I'd do that as I don't have a way to bypass it at the moment without going and buying some hose connections. I'll let you know if I do.
"I still have somewhat of a bog when the engine's cold."
Two things AB...1. It is a Ford 2. It is a carbed Ford. And carbed engines do not think, feel, act, react or behave like EFIs which one can basically jump in, hit the start, throw it in gear and immediately drive off. Once the engine is up to operating temps it runs much better. It takes mine about 1.5-2.0 miles of driving in town to start running smooth from a cold start and quite a bit less time when pre-heated with the block heater.
