Oil Pump!
I have an 83 f150 300 inline. I just bought a reman motor and have recently installed it. My problem is at the oil pump/distributor connection. When i put the distributor in, it is just hitting the oil pump shaft. I know something else goes there, but i dont know what. Is there a gear or a rod that goes on the oil pump????? HELP!!! Parts stores arent helping.

often what happens when you try to install dist, many times the dist gear will eslightly engauge the cam before the oil pump drive can turn and line up.
what you need to do when this happens is to turn the engine over while somone pushes down on the dist body. The dist body will usall drop in just sec.
