I installed my oil pump, pickup,& shaft making sure it didnt pull out of the pump when the tinnerman nut was installed. Now im installing the intake i notice the hex drive sits off to the side and not in the center of the holeand the dizzy doesnt want to drop in.The dizzy gear is off as im just trying to line up the intake.thanks
Drop the distributor in until it stops, trying your best to have it line up @ 1 if not dont sweat it. Then give the crank pulley a slight tug while wiggling the rotor. It will find home. Not at 1, make it so..
When i first put my FE toghther i put the cam in with the gear bolted directly to it..every thing seemed ok..but after some running the motor trashed the mallory dist,gears..and looking closer i noticed the lifters were not true with the cam..my friend was a fractory ford racer told me some FEs needed a spacer and he gave me one..it moves the cam to its proper place..that would explain the gears not meshing right with the oil pump..good luck bill
