power window working backwards

power window working backwards
2004 F450 6.0 XL. I just finished switching out the entire interior of the truck, complete dash, window and lock actuators, cab hardness, etc. The donor truck was a 2004 F350 XLT. The windows and locks work, however, the windows switches work backwards. If I push the down button the window goes up and vise versa, same all four windows. Any suggestions to what I did wrong?? thanks

Welcome to FTE.
Sounds like you got a wire swapped somewhere.
Do you have access to a wiring diagram?
I would look at one and start at the wires feeding power
to the switches on the driver door. The other option is
you may of plugged the motors in 180º out on the plugs.
In rereading what you posted I would look at the window drive motors
see it the plug got flipped some how.

thanks for the replies! I have checked all the plugs and they are shaped to prevent that from happening. I don't think the plugs can be reversed, but if possible I would be the one to do it . I have not been able to find wire diag for windows to see if somehow I have the wrong hot coming in. Since everything runs thru the master switch on drivers side could the switch somehow be shorted?

Give me a little bit because I have an idea.
I have the 03,04 DVD and that does have a diagram in it.
I'll do some digging and see what I can find.
Also can you post a photo of the plug that goes into the
window motor? The type of plug that is used can sometimes
be disassembled and then you could swap the wires. That would
be the quick and dirty fix. It would be better if we can find what
is going on and fix that instead.

Ok, Here we go.
I have 7 PDFs for you to look at.
They are of the 2004 window power and wiring diagrams.
Let me know if this works for you.
The funny thing is I forget that I have this DVD on hand most of the times.
I should of thought of it sooner. The 06 one is much better because it has links.

My driver's side seat all of a sudden started working opposite of the direction intended. I basically had to push the button forward to make it go backward and push it backwards to get the seat to go forward. Initially the switch was working intermittently, but now it works all the time, just backwards. I cant for the life of me figure it out. Good luck and let us know what you did to fix it.

Thank you for the schematics! I traced the power and everything is working correctly electrically. On a whim I swapped front window motors from one side to the other and that corrected the problem!! So I swapped the rear ones as well and now everything works correctly! I had no idea the motors were location specific. The window tracks are clearly stamped but I found no recognizable differences on the motors and when I bought them the motors and tracks were already separated from each other. Plus what are the odds of getting them all wrong to start with? Thank you again!

Very interesting and good to know.
So if by chance you could of had one set that were working right. I would like to know
the odds on you getting both on the wrong sides. I bet it high. next time you in the
doors look to see if you can see a part number on the motor assembles and post it back
to this if you can. I would think that there will be a right and a left number for the motors.
Thanks for posting this and how you fixed it.

Bummer, I just finished putting the door panels and everything together before I read your reply for the part #'s. I did look at the motors pretty closely after the fact to see if I some how missed a designation but there were no markings however I did not read the part numbers. I incorrectly assumed it would have been more obvious than that. I am sure will continue to make changes so the panels will be off soon to take some pics of motors.
The truck has an idle control, I do have not documentation. All I can find online is for a 7.3, do you know if the manual is the same for the 6.0??
Thank you again and this forum is a wonderful resource.

Look in the 6.0L Tech Folder or search for High Idle(BCP).
The BCP uses a different system then the PTO system.
The High Idle(BCP) is governed by voltage where the PTO
can be set with a resistor or rheostat.
Both are activated by supplying 12 Volts to a wire with or without
a switch. The parking brake needs to be set along with being in Park
for the BCP. I don't know if you have to be in park for the PTO but
I would bet you do.

This should give you some info and a lot of ideas on how different people can do this.
