I tried looking in the tech folder and was unable to pull it up. Would it be worth installing one on my 04. Also if anyone could please help with install procedures. I don't let the truck idle to long other than when I'm in Ohio in the winter. Also is this something that I should use whenever I leave the truck idle. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks.
If you want to make it look professional, like it came with the truck, use the OEM upfitter switches... The whole kit can be purchased for about $100 if you already have the electric brake controller in your truck. If you don't, then the kit runs about $130 because you have to buy the tray that goes with it. If you're interested, I'll post up the part #'s you need.
I ordered them from ebay. I received the switches, the relays and the extra tray which I didn't need because I have the OEM electric brake controller. It makes a much more professional look to the install. I used Aux4 and the purple/light green wire going to Aux4 of my upfitter which connects to the orange/light blue 10Amp switch wire. Instructions below. The hardest part is routing the wiring harness to make sure that your glove box and the dropdown under the upfitter switches closes. If you don't route the wiring harness properly, you won't be able to close either one. If you have the brake controller already there (like I did), you can get by with just ordering the switches and the relays. It's about $40 cheaper.
Followed this writeup which is 1000 times better than any I found on the internet.
Also, I saw this before buying my upfitter switches. This guy used the parking light switch to do it. I can't vouch for it. I preferred to go with a relay for mine using the upfitter relay and switch setup.
Just google the high idle mod, there are several good posts on how to do it. I am not sure how necessary it is, I have only used it a few times since I did it.
Did the high idle mod on my 06 and I was a matter of connecting 2wire that were within 3" of each other under the dash. Now my #4 uplifter is the high idle switch.
Bill, just aheads up, I know those blue, tag-on connectors are convenient (post #3). But I promise, they are a guaranteed problem in the future. Maybe not this year or even next year but you will have to put your hands on it again. I can't tell you how many problems I've fixed just removing those things from a vehicles lights and stereo systems wiring. They should not exist (lol). If you don't want to solder/heat shrink(preferred method), the best alternative is to cut the wire and use a butt splice- 1 wire in one end and 2 in the other. Even a wire nut is a better option.

X2. I've replaced many of these. Buy some insulated crimp on wire connectors and a decent set of crimpers and only do the job once.
i did this mod on my 05 an wired it ino my parking brake. all i have to do is push the parking brake down one click an it engages my hi idle. kicks it up to 1200 rpm. i dont have the upfitter switches an didnt wont to drill any holes in my dash. just have to use a test light an find the wire from ur parking brake switch thats hot when u push it down. an wire ur hi idle into it.

I know there is another Bill on here, so I'm not sure if you are talking to me, but I agree with you. I soldered mine and used upfitter switches, I don't use those butt splice connectors. That video is not me! Just posting it as an idea.
