I recently bought a pair of doors that have power windows/locks and bolted them inplace on my 89 Custom (non power anything). I can make the drivers window go up and down (using the drivers side switch) and make the passenger window go up and down (using the passenger switch), but I cannot make the passenger window move with the passenger switch on the drivers panel. Nor can I make the locks function right.
has anybody ever wired these in ? My 89 has no provision for wireharness for these, that I know of.........
I thought of doing that before but I decided to fix my ac instead and then there is no reason to crank the windows down very oftern.
i assume you ran your own wires between the doors?
try to find out which wire controls the pass window and track it down and make sure its wired right. easiest way is to look at another truck with pw.
The locks dont have that many wires I didnt think last time i looked at my 86. If you found the plugs that plug into the switches in the door panel you could just wire it from color coding.
I think there are two wires to the drivers door window switch and three from there to the other door. Make sure the contacts are all clean and the ground is good. The door locks also need some kind of extra box that is down by the kick panel under the dash to work. I did the same thing but stopped with the windows. The locks have seperate wires. You will need a diagram to figure it out.
