Naw, 30k on all of it. I'm not going to try to convince you that's what you should do, my explanation could get rather lengthy , but I will say it's not an "off hand" decision.
Rusty: Have you considered the '08 pan/filter upgrade? It was less than $100 and just schedule it with a fluid change and then that's covered (other than now you need 9qts). You can make up the cost a bit by just pulling the external filter and picking a change interval between 30k and 60k. The 6.4 guys aren't doing hot flushes either....
I did the upgrade and will probably do dump/fills every 20k or so and the internal filter at 60k (Ford's severe duty schedule, btw).
If you upgrade to the 08 pan and filter, why not leave the external filter and get a little more filtering? It's already there. Just seems like a little more ins. to me.

Well, I am for just the next couple of changes (1st one done), but that's only 'cause I bought 2 of those printed backwards filters on eBay for $14 each. I don't think the extra filtration is needed -- heck how many trans issues do we hear about and there have got to be a ton of folks that just drive the crap out of these w/o fluid let alone the 10% filtration external filter change!
Someone will get an extremely well taken care of truck, whenever me and the Mrs. move on to another...

Just food for thought...
I did, especially after Mark "signed off" on it, I'm convinced he knows his stuff. I suspect the internal filter has a finer filter and of course full filtration. The bracket on the external filter mount bracket is flimsy and it doesn't filter when the trans is cold. Maybe other considerations I'm missing.
My aviation experience dovetails nicely with what I see on the truck as it was built. Bypass filtration is the preferred method on many of the aircraft fluid systems I've worked on, especially hydraulic systems and it is very effective. I've heard several people say a bypass coolant filter is a waste of time. I understand the logic but it's just not true.
I think Motorcraft SP is good for at least 50k mi. Overheat it just once and it's down to maybe 30k. Do it again 20k etc. Barring trashing the fluid with broken parts I see HEAT as the #1 enemy. If I ever see my trans begin to overheat I hope to react quickly, and the servicing schedule will be interrupted.
All mechanical systems have wear, it just becomes a matter of what is acceptable to you, it's your truck and money after all. I'm just not willing to undertake Herculean effort to ensure my trans has 6 micron scratches on the wear surfaces instead of 10.
Sage words indeed Rusty... Also go to LV when you can -- it looks to be superior to SP from what I've gathered. The pan/filter change was easier than the bluespring and just as easy as the XDP coolant filter.
when you see that internal filter in your hands you will understand -- from my bygone dirtbike days: "trick" is an understatement...

Scott,
I'm interested in your comments about that internal filter after your changeout.
What was so revealing?
I know Mark talks about no need to change these on our 5R110, so I've not given it much thought like my Expy when I change out the filter Every time I replace the ATF.
Well I checked my truck for a leak after just replacing my tran seal and I have a very slow leak... Wow this sucks. Back to the drawing board. Going to buy a torgue wrench to check if I'm near the 12 ibs. I didn't do it at first but I know I didn't go crazy gorilla on them...

Your Expy has the same filter as the older 5R110 that I was talking about. My comments about changing the filter apply to your Expy, too.
The way I see it if your already in there replace. Filter or screen why not.. Not everyday you open up the tranny. In my case I will be doing it again because of a leak..
