Electric door lock actuators
I just recently purchased a 1990 F350 crew cab with power door locks. The problem is only one of the door locks actually works. The passenger side front. The other three doors not only do not work, but seem to be frozen. I cannot lock or unlock them manually. Not even with the key in the case of the driver side door. I can turn it to the unlock position, but not lock. So, I checked Autozone, Pep Boys, and O' Reilly's for the actuators, and got the shock of my life. The front actuator can be had for either $43 (O'Reillys) or $70 (Autozone) however, the rear actuators are $309 each at O' Reilly's and $312 each at Autozone. Pep Boys does not sell any of them so they are no use to me at all.
Is there any way to rebuild these as I really do not want to spend $600+ for 2 actuators. I also don't want to keep my truck unlocked all the time. I did buy a Viper alarm so at least I would know if someone opens the doors, but I would also like to be able to lock them. I guess I could check the junkyards, but I don't know the chances of finding a crew cab there, or better yet, a crew cab that hasn't had the actuators taken out already.
Any help would be appreciated.

Give Hollywood a call, ask what their "low buck" price is. Obsolete, so if they return them to FoMoCo, the most they'll get is the net cost.
Otherwise you may be SOL, as AFAIK, these actuators cannot be rebuilt. I used to buy from Hollywood when I was a P/M.
Norm is the owner, Russ is their outside salesman who I've known since 1968. I've known Norm even longer, but haven't seen him in 10 years.

and then modify the bracket and linkage and wiring so that that actuator works in place of the Ford actuator. Much cheaper and so far I have not had to replace one and they've been in place for many years.
You may want to hose them down with Wd40 and see if they will free up. If they do, then lube the screw acuator with oil, that's where it binds up causing the key lock and door lock to jam up. Its a PITA to get the lock motor link removed and installed to the lock mech assy! So try that 1st.

Thanks for t he tip. Will have to try that and see if I can get it to work loose.
