I have a 1993 Ford F-350, crew cab. I'm in need of the rear crew cab door electric lock actuators. I'm told they are about 350.00 each which is too much for me. Does anyone know who might have them cheaper?, they are not the same as the inexpensive front door units. Thanks, Tom.
I don't have a crew cab, but the door lock actuators on my F150 and also my Bronco used to fail pretty regular. After replacing them a few times with JY pieces, I bought a kit to add PL to a car on eBay. It came with 4 actuators. I made a bracket and rod to make the actuator work on my F150 and then modded the wiring as well. That's been about 7-8 years ago and the first one is still working. I later replaced the driver's side actuator on my Bronco in the same fashion, I still have 2 actuators left and I only paid about $40 for the entire kit.
The actuator is just and electric motor to make the rod jump up and down, there is nothing magical about the Ford unit.
This is similar to the kit I bought - 8 years later and the price has actually gone down. My actuators look just like the ones in this kit, tho:
Dorman actuators, from what I understand are pretty good, and usually run no more than around $25 or so.

I have the same problem with my drivers side-rear, so I'm looking forward to the responses. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the latch/actuator out of the door?
