I was wondering if anyone here knew of an aftermarket power locking doors , or keyless entry system for 1952 Ford F1. I dont want to have to go the shaved doorhandle route , like some customs I have seen. Im going to have my stereo and stuff in there , and i dont want anyone to open my door unwanted. Thanks for any info if you have any
I would suggest you look first to our hosts to see if they have a kit suitable for your use. Then Some of the other vendors who support this forum. I have seen the kits at several of the better know f100 specialists.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out ....with pictures please
Door lock actuators don't cost much ($10 or so), and any worthwhile car alarm will have door lock/unlock outputs. Add a couple of relays and a fuse to operate the lock(s), and that's all the electrical junk you need.
The hard part is to figure out a way to make the actuator operate the lock mechanism inside the door, and how to route the wires from the cab into the door. The actuators usually come with some generic brackets and push rods.
If you have a scrap door or one that needs reskinning, tearing the skin off would make it easier to get at the lock mechanism and design brackets and stuff.
I haven't actually done this yet, but I've collected all the parts. Since my 1957 panel truck doesn't have a lock on the driver's side, this will be a priority after the truck gets an engine and brakes. It's slightly possible that I'll take some pictures and produce a dimensioned drawing of any parts I have to fabricate.
