OBD1/OBDll
Issue 1: I see no indication that you checked for fault codes. Did you?
Issue 2: Keep the interface unplugged until needed and plug in only after the engine is running.

Issue 1 - I have checked for fault codes. There are none, and the check engine light does not stay on. Unfortunately, I haven't had my bluetooth OBD dongle and tablet handy when the problem happens, although I'm now prepared for that.
Issue 2 - yes, obviously. But that still seems problematic. That data port shouldn't be causing engine issues. Also, you can't always convince the guy at the emissions shop to do it your way. "They start 1000s of cars a week..."
Reviving a super old thread because I wasn't sure if I should make my own new post or review this one or make my own.
I'm currently going through this in CA trying to Smog my 01 X. The Smog paperwork lists it as a Federal Smog but it is still being failed due to monitor readiness. Is this still the post cat O2 sensor even though the paperwork is saying it's being tested to Federal standards? Everyone I speak to just tells me to go speak to the BAR Referee. Has this been others experience? Is the BAR Referee the only person that can handle this?
If I should make my own new thread please lt me know.
Thanks
