Changing fuel pump

Found out my 03 6.0 has a bad fuel pump (low fuel pressure). Is it a hassle to change out? Its at the mechanic now, but if it isnt too difficult I'll save money and do it myself. And the pump through Ford is quite pricey I believe.

It's not hard at all. 3 nuts, 2 electrical connectors and 4 (?) fuel lines. You'll need a 5/16 3/8 fuel line disconnect tool which is $6 at a parts store.

The fuel pump on a 6.0 is mounted on the frame rail under the truck right at the drivers door. It is contained inside the HFCM {Heated fuel conditioning module}.

It can be changed seperate of the module but most parts houses iincludeing Ford will try to sell the whole module $$$$. The pump is much less than the entire module.

Where's a good place to get the pump? The mechanic at the stealership is pretty good, but I just don't want to fork over an extra 100 or 200 bucks for the same pump.

Options for the fuel pump only:

PFP58054 - Parker-Hannifin (Racor)
HFP964 - Delphi
AIRTEX Part # E2340

You should be able to google the part numbers

Awesome, thanks guys. Ford wants $1000 bucks to put a new fuel pump on. I think I'll do it myself, thats absolutely ridiculous.

Alright I'm slightly confused. Two different images come up from the same numbers. One (shown here Motorcraft PFB101 Electric Fuel Pump | eBay ) looks like the whole HFCM. The other (
Airtex E2340 Electric Fuel Pump : Amazon.com : Automotive Airtex E2340 Electric Fuel Pump : Amazon.com : Automotive
) looks longer and skinnier. I assume the second one is what I actually need, and that the first one is the whole HFCM? Or am I just seeing a universal image and they're both the exact same thing?

6C3Z-9G282-AA is an older part number for Ford's entire HFCM (which contains the actual fuel pump). This part was superceded by part number 6C3Z-9G282-C. You can get the updated part from Ford for around $280. The ebay HFCM is no bargain IMO.

The part numbers I gave you in the previous post are for the pump by itself.

The pump itself is around $175.

Not to nitpick but HFCM is HORIZONTAL Fuel Conditioning Module
