I just got my fuel pump from Clay for $269.00 next day air and the stealership wanted $471. Clay is the MAN!!!My question is where is it located and how hard is it to change? Read sig to find out what its going on.I hope this is the problem, my mechanic seems to think so. He is going to charge me 2 hours labor @ $60 an hour. If its something I can do I want to try and do it myself. Would checking the fuel line pressure be a smart thing to do prior to changing the pump out? I dont want to install it if its not the problem. thanks in advance
I would definitely check your fuel pressure before replacing the pump or paying someone to do it. What symptoms are you having which made you order the pump? The gas fuel pump is in-tank - I think the diesel one is located on the frame rail and should be easier to replace.
Fuel pump is on the frame under the drivers seat. Call me and I can walk you through it if you need. It isn't to bad to replace at all. But you do need a fuel line disconnect tool from Napa or Advanced.
It all of a sudden was missing at light throttle and from a dead stop it was like it was not gettng fuel.I dropped it off at my mechanic and he said he thought it was the fuel pump. I have not talked to him enought to find out how he came to this conclusion. ordered it from Clay and I will talk to my mechanic tomorrow and bfore installing it and have him drain the fuel bowl and check the fuel pressure. This guy was a diesel mechanic for 15 yrs at Ford so I hope he knows what he is talking about. But 2 hrs labor is a bit much for a fuel pump that is located on the frame rail. Clay I left you a message when you get a chance give me a call
