Intermediate steering shaft. A shaft that goes from the firewall to the steering box with a tiny universal joint that each end. The universals start to seize up causeing hard turning. I just did mine in my 07 and had to do it in my 04. You can pull it off and soak the universals in like pb blaster or wd 40 to loosen them up and get a little more time out of them or dish out 200-300 for a new one. I just got a new one.
They are easy to change. Just one clamp bolt that attach it to the shaft coming through the fire wall and one that attaches it to the steering box.
