No its not too sloppy it just has some play in the steering that seems to come and go. I've had the front end checked out by a good mechanic and everythings seems tight, i just am not sure where this play is coming from. Once in a while it will oversteer and then will be hard to bring back. Strangely , after I have had it jacked up it won't act up for quite a while. Any ideas?
You can turn the adjustment screw on top of the box (loosen and hold the locking nut while you turn the adjustment screw) while you periodically check the play in the steering wheel.
Roll your window down, stand outside your door and move your steering wheel from side to side while watching your tire move back and forth.
I think you need about one inch of play before the tire begins to move.
Don't take all the play out or it will not drive right.
If your can't get the play to one inch, then your steering box or something else may be worn.
Don't adjust it too much. The recirculating ***** in the box will jam. If the box has dead spots or hard spots the box is about toast. Cardone remans these boxes and they are only 158.00 with lifetime warranty.
