bigger pipe

Hello all,

I have a 98 f250 light duty 4x4 4.6l.

I put a flowmaster 50 series on it last year. I still want a little more umpf on it. Just a little more power, and maybe a little deeper sound. I was thinking of going from stock 2.5 pipe to a 3".

any thoughts on this is appreciated.

2.5" is already plently large enough, you will get a gain in sound, no gain in performance.

Take the slowmaster off and replace it with a straight through muffler (not a glasspack). That should achieve both your power and sound goals.

normally we reduce pipe size after the converter/s but if you choose to keep the current muffler then drop the pipe size to 2.25 after the muffler, you have to create some velocity in the exhaust to gain s'more "oomph"..
