what size of pipe is coming into the stock muffler and what size is coming out of the muffler. my brother just got his 07 and wants it louder, he's not very mechanical so i'm gonna buy him all of the parts, but i need to know what size of pipe and clamps to buy. i told him if he doesn't like the sound he can always put the muffler back on of get a flowmaster series 40.
Perhaps few of us really have a 07 so we don't want to post bogus info
It should be 3" in 3" out...
It would only take about 15 seconds to check on the actual vehicle...it is either 2.5", 3", or 3.5"
Zero muffler will be a real waste of time and definitely will annoy all the neighbors... not to mention the V10 sounds real nasty with and open exhaust...good luck
3in is pretty big exhaust for a NA gas engine i don't see why it would have any negative effects on the truck besides annoying the neighbors. i know on a turbo diesel a 4in pipe is good for over 600hp. thanks for the help i can't measure the exhaust myself i live in ohio and my brother is in miss.
If the 07 is like the 05 (it should be) try this. Loosen the clamp closest to the muffler. It should be a band clamp. Pull the pipes appart and secure the system with wire if needed. you now have an open system. Take it around the block a few times to see if you can live with the noise. On my 05 the inlet is 3" and the outlet/tailpipe is 3.5". Here are some pics of a Dynomax muffler I put on my 05. http://rides.webshots.com/album/55030791FidJq
yours is the only 3v v10 ive ever heard of that has a 3.5 inch tail...where are you getting a 3.5 tail from?
If you look at this pic you can see the 3" piece I added to the 3.5" tail pipe. It fit inside the tailpipe and I had to bend/shrink the tubing to weld it up. The tip I bought was 3.5" inlet also. I dunno why I have that size pipe.
