Starting a 73-79 Wiring Tech Thread
The one in your bottom picture with the 90 is for the water sender located on the left side of the front of the motor as your looking at the motor.
The oil pressure sending unit on a 78 400 is located on the top center backside of the block behind the intake.
I found the oil pressure sending unit under the vacuum tree in the back of the engine. looks like this:

there is a wire connected already. It red with a white stripe. but the white strip is much wider that the white stripe on the wire im trying to identify.
not sure that even matters.
I have foud a few other loose components too.
on the driver side of the carb where the acceleration components are is a loose spring just hanging there. I think there are enough photos floating around the web I can fix that but there is a short black wire hanging off with a spade connector. Its not conneced to anything. I asked the previous owner he said the carb originally came from a new model truck but was the same model carb so it may have "features" that dont get used.
the "hollow" bolt i referred to is just to the right of the mechanical puel pump. and to the left of the oil filter.

I thought this would be a good place to put some of the info for you guys. These are for the gauge cluster.

These are for the ignition. The second part number is for heavier gauge wire I believe.

Headlight sockets.

Haven't ran into these yet. Says Ford though.

Ugh.

If you guys need other part numbers PM me. I'll post more as I get into it further.
I'm rewiring my old truck and decided to use a power distribution box like Wyckedcombo17 used in his. I couldn't find a Focus but grabbed one from a 2001 Expedition. I'm not running a ton of stuff, but it'll be handy for adding stuff in the future. The one thing I was concerned about was all the wires hanging out under the thing. It took me awhile, but I figured out how to get things cleaned up.
See those red things? They block in the tangs that hold in the fuse/relay socket. They have their own tangs that need to be pried. They are top and bottom in this pic.

Here it is removed.

And the socket.

The red things come out a little different for the relays, mini fuses and diodes. They work very similar though.
question 1: does anyone have a pic of the resistance wire? all the wires under my dash look like normal wires. Not sure what im looking for.
question 2: How many fuseable links am I supposed to have?
question 3:
I have some wires going to my Transmission (C6) but I am not seeing that on my schematics. What do I need to look for?
Thanks in advance for any help answering these questions.

No 2. Early models only had one fusible link but later ones have more. Three to four sounds right.
No 3. Those are wires for the neutral start switch. The same switch also operates the back-up lights.
The picture is the resistor wire for the ignition. Depending on your model year and options, there could be more under the dash.

Awesome, Thank you. Back up switch is on my schematic.
A resistor wire is just that, it has a specified resistance. A fused wire or fusible link will measure nearly 0 ohms resistance when you use an ohmmeter.
If you're talking about the stock gauges, they get their power from the ICVR on the back of the instrument cluster and it measures around ~5.5 volts.
Like I said, the stock gauges are powered by the instrument cluster voltage regulator located on the back of the instrument cluster. This is where you should get your power for the gauges.
This is a picture of the ICVR that should be on the back of the instrument cluster.
