I'm currently interning for a second summer in a row at Intel. (Mostly software development top secret stuff ). My parents lost a bet with me and had to buy me my first car. But in the past 2 years I've taken over all my expenses except rent, tuition (which at a state school with a healthy scholarship is pretty minimal), and cell phone bill (family plan). Going from being reliant on my parents to high school to already pretty self supporting has been awesome, and one of the reasons I was finally able to get this truck.
Though the downside of this is my parents take all the credit for raising me right, and now expect me to pay for my sisters college. Which I don't mind much seeing as all they did for me.
Odell got cancelled late yesterday evening... My daughter's work schedule got switched up and huckleberry picking had to wait.
I had my first job when I was 12... Bucking hay for a guy down the street and a paper route. When I was 13 I helped another neighbor roof several rental units. Mowed lots of lawns too.
I agree a good work ethic is invaluable... Something my son sadly never learned no matter how hard I tried to instill it in him.
Well depending on how old he is, set him up with a job with a family friend. When I worked in the cherry orchard it was for a friends parents. And they were friendly enough so when I blew up a tractor at the ripe age of 13 I didn't pay for a new one. But it wasn't my own family so I felt like I had to actually put some effort into it.
Good for you! You'll fit in good around here with all the workaholics! Except for Pat.............hehehe...
I think my oldest granddaughter is following the same path. She finished high school as a 4.0 Junior with 26 college credits, and starts college this Jan in Syracuse New York at Syracuse University with a full ride scholarship.
We are helping her "get buy" while she's going to college.....

She sounds set. Getting through high school with a high GPA really sets you up nicely to easily pay for college. Leaving school without any debt was always a goal of mine, and it turns out I will be leaving with quite a bit of savings instead.
Later dudes! Just got a call, and one of my buddys logging trucks is stuck on I-84 with a bad air compressor. Gotta go install another one and get him back on the road. Have a great day guys!
Wow, some guy is gonna get lucky with that one. I just found one who asks to go work on the truck with me and I thought that was the best you could find!

She drives the boys crazy! It doesn't hurt that she's a cute little blond with big *****! (Did I really just say that...)........lol
Ya got to be very, very careful with females and vehicles! It can become very expensive!
My wife absolutely insists that her only interest in me and the reason she married me was for my Formula and I had said that only a serious girl friend or possible contender for future wife would ever drive it.........................the Formula has been gone since 86, but she's still here! Hmmmmm, that was 35 years ago that she latched onto my Formula! That was one heck of an expensive car to own.
Thats lookin good! I just finished up a bunch of freelance work and a quote, so I should be looking at a nice little bonus if the client comes through. (Why doesn't everyone answer their work phone at 5:30? Come on!)
