Going OK. The people moved out of their house and looks like Harley and I have another whole inside of a house to paint and trim, but not too bad. Should take about a week to get ready to rent.
Good evening Oregon. Home from the beach. Tuna fishing was not so hot today. We got a few but not what we were expecting. Ocean got real snotty this afternoon making for a very pleasant 40 mile boat trip back to Depoe Bay.
How about insurance on the rentals? Loosing money sucks the life out of the company.
High deductible insurance only for 8 rentals. The company was in the black for the first 5 years, then the last managers drove it into the red. Last year was the first time the partners had to put their own money into the costs to run the place. We now have them in the black again, and will continue to keep them there!
Evening gang. Worked at the farm today. Went to McMenimans for dinner (blue cheese hamburger and hand cut fries) plus a couple of Ruby Ales. Mmmmm. Now I'm ready for bed.
Evening Jim! One of the LLC owners has been Halibut fishing out there for the last week. He promised to bring me some tomorrow!
Treat it like gold and pay homage to it before consuming!
The owner wouldn't happen to own the boat that blew two fuel pumps today and needed the USCG to go get them? Probably not, but we headed over to assist a boat in distress as their numbers were only about 3 miles from us. After talking to them on the radio we discovered that they were in real trouble and we would not be able to tow them in or do much for them in the rough ocean. When we calculated our fuel state, the rough ocean and wind and the trouble they had, we had to break off and head for port. USCG passed us on our way in.
We brought a 40 pounder up and that is about tied for the largest that we have actually laid eyes on. We have seen a lot of smaller ones brought in - averaging around 19-20 pounds.
"Spring" season closed the 28th. The "summer" season opened yesterday for Fri-Sat and they are talking like the quota may be reached no later than tonight. If it should stay open - the season will run on every other Fri-Sat until the quota is met.
There was word they were going to cut us off of halibut as of last night, but either the quota wasn't reached or they felt sorry for us.
