I guess you missed the memo where the 4.6, 5.4, and the V-10 all like to shear their manifold bolts? if not sheared, they rust out so badly that you have to drill them out

That's because that memo was buried under the memo about the spark plugs blowing out, which was covered up by the addendum memo about the spark plugs breaking off when the threads were redesigned so they wouldn't blow out. Too many memos. Can't blame a guy for missing one.

You're confused, the Excursion was never equipped with plugs that are capable of breaking off. That was exclusive to the early 3V engines which the Ex never got.

It was supposed to be about a bunch of Excursion members ragging on Suburbans but they turned on each other like rabid chipmunks....and the suburbans got away.

Thats hilarious! Old threads, old movies, as long as there is a solid theme and a great hero and villan, you just got to love it!

I just got a 2000 7.3 with 200000+. I've spent more time and money than I planned fixing it up, but she is really coming around and I am falling in love. Plan on towing the family, friends and a 8k+ T.T. for a lot of fun filled years! It will probably be worth more in five years that its worth now!

Having driven both and owning the Excursion, if its yours then the Ex is the better choice, if for your wife the the Suburban or Expedition EL might be a better choice. They each have their issues, I drive various late model Chevrolet Trucks at work and well I would have to think long and hard about owning one. Verizon buys whatever is cheapest and it was Dodge and now for the last 7-8 years its been Chevrolet. Oil usage in 8.1L Chevrolets is unreal. The 5.3 and 6.0 are both pretty doggie and make strange noises. The interiors don't last but I figured that was because most had base interiors, all rattle like crazy. The Fords had some issues covered by other posters.

someone will find a way to filter that fresh water and my bet is on Mother Nature. The earth has been cooling since the 90's so I guess the EPA will not be happy until it snows in Florida all winter long.
Drill baby Drill!
