My local supplier carrys the following three types of Oil
1. Shell Rotella T
2. Chevron Delo 400LE
3. Mobil Delvac 1300 Super
Which if any would be best in my 7.3 IDI Non Turbo, I know all of the major brands must meet pretty much the same industry standards. These are all 15 W 40 of course. Thanks!
Find somewhere that sells Valvoline premium blue. There was a thread on this a while back. You dont want to run the newer formulated oil for use in trucks with DPFs. Which includes rotella. Good ole delo 400 is good, but i dont think they even make it anymore, all i could find is 400 LE (low emission) I switched to Valvoline premium and there was a noticable impovement in consumption and the engine just sounds better. Oil pressure doesnt drop as much as bad either as compared to delo LE Valvoline is alos recommended by Cummins.
but like i said, it boils down to not using the newer low emissions formulations, one is CJ4 the other is something else CI4? Drawing a blank.. well anyway a quick net search should point you in the right direction. FWIW walmart brand oil beat alot of respectable oil brands in a breakdown comparison, including delo and john deere

Where do you find the premium blue and whats it cost? i was going to look into that but had never heard anyone running it. i have been running rotella, and on cold start up i see 55psi or so, and after warm i see like 20ish psi.

I've been using motorcraft 15w40 from walmart for a while. It leaks out at the same rate as the others and the truck didn't blow up yet, so it must be good.
Seriously though, Rotella has been known to evaporate more than others.
valvoline premium blue 15/40 non synthetic. endorsed and recommended by Cat, Cummins, and Detroit Diesel. i figure it should be good for my truck. don't have any consumption issues.
