That's good oil. I'd run it myself if it wasn't about twice as much as Rotella Syn 5W-40. That's what I run and my truck seems to like it. $16.24/gal at Wally World.

Mobil 1 is a great oil. Your truck will run better in the winter with a 5w40. I run Schaeffer's 5w40. It is 16.53 gal. 10,000 miles between changes. Do a search, there are several guys on here that run it and like it. Good luck.

You can get cheap Wix filters at www.fleetfilter.com. Thats where I get mine. I get about three or four at a time to off set the shipping charges. Also a good place to pick up the 6637 air filter. Much cheaper that way.

I get the Motorcraft for $10 when I buy the oil at Wally-World. Been running Motorcraft filters on my Fords for almost 20 years -- no reason to change. If I could get Schaeffer 9000 for $16/gal easily I would. Everything I've heard about it has been excellent...

I have been running Rotella in my 01' since it was new. I tow a large fiver and there has never been a problem. ULSD fuel is the only thing that has been a downside as far as the engine running smooth. Diesel Kleen helps out with that.

I've been very pleased, both with how the truck runs and on used oil analysis from the Schaeffer's 9000. Switched almost 3 years ago from Mobil 1 and the truck started to run better. I've seen good reports from synthetic Rotella and Chevron's Delo as well, just no personal experience with them.

Edit: for filters, I've always ran NAPA gold (WIX filter) but am getting ready to try a Fleeguard filter, LF9691 to see how it does.

I've run Rotella 15W-40, Delo 400 15W-40, Amsoil 15W-40 , Schaeffer's 15W-40 and Schaeffer's 5W-40.

In my opinion from my used oil analysis reports I would rate them:

Schaeffer's
Delo 400
Rotella 5W-40 (no personal experience, just others UOA's)
Amsoil 15W-40
Rotella 15W-40

Has anyone had a Blackstone report done on Rotella 10W-30? I know it's hard to find at local stores but I just switched to it for the cold winter months here. The place I fill up with diesel is also an oil company and he has the 10W-30 Rotella diesel oil. I was running the 15W-40 but got sick of the romps and I'm too cheap to go Synthetic.
