Does any one have any experience with Wally World Super Tech oil?
Does it compare at all to Rotella? It is almost half the cost of Rotella. ST also comes in a 20/50 wt. Would that wt. have any advantage for a 7.3 IDI with 190,000 miles? I know you get what you pay for.
Curious. Thanks in advance.
You're going to love this answer- it depends. It depends on where you live. I'm not sure about Ga. but the south region for Wally is handled by Shell. Some areas it is Exxon and there are other suppliers like Warren as well. Most likely, your area is Warren and that is only because they would be the closest to you. As time passes, you will see all of their private label oils go to Mobil/Exxon. I am hearing that M/E is all that they will be handling from now on so your favorite brand may dry up ay Wallys. Motorcraft is already gone, Havoline and Chevron are non-existant in some stores. Things are a changing at Wallys. So with this variable in mind, you don't really know what you are getting when you buy their brand oil. Considering the cost of a PSD, I wouldn't cut corners on the oil. Rotella turns in good wear metals in fleets as well as Delo 400+ and Delvac 1300.
Untill I am through the warranty I am running Mobil Delvac 1300 15/40 oil. At 8 dollars a gallon it is cheap oil. as soon as the warranty is up I am switching to Mobil Delvac 1 synthetic oil at 22.00 a gallon. I do oil changes every 3,000 miles reguardless of oil cost. Last year I spent close to 7,500 dollars for a reman 7.3 turbo that has 9,000 miles on it now. A few dollars saved running cheap oil is not an option. The only reason the Delvac 1 is not in it right now is I had a warranty issue last year with a broken crank. The engine remanufacturer gave me a small protest because I was running synthetic oil, they had no experience with it in their engines under controlled operating enviroment conditions.
So untill the warranty is out I am sticking with 1300 Series so there is no flack if this engine goes south. It would be the third engine they had to replace if it does. I have already had one cracked block and one broken crank.
