best engine oil

guys, i'm using Rotella syn now but have heard from others thats it not as good as some of the others offered now. I've always heard Rotella is one of the best but maybe things change. Anyone know where i can find hard data proving that Rotella is not as good as others. Maybe even an unbiased oil test would be great. Any thoughts?

There is a really great oil forum...

www.bobistheoilguy.com

Stop in and check out the Heavy Duty Engine Oil forum, lots of good info there. Rotella is consistently referred to as one of the best oils available. LOTS of people run it in their PSDs of all generations with no problems.

I use Motorcraft 15w40 in the summer and plan on using Rotella Synthetic 5w40 in the winter.

As long as it's CJ-4 rated, you should be fine.

motorcraft 15w40 is what I use year round. The engine ships with 10w30 dino oil from the factory though.

I am running the 15W40 motorcraft as well. I think if it were colder here then in the winter I would switch.

Just changed my oil. I've been using Rotella Syn from the second oil change. I noticed there is a $20 rebate going on for 3 gallon purchase from 5-17 through 7-9 for those of you who use this oil. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up. Anytime I can save a little money on oil I jump on it.

Crazy, I saw the bottles at Wal-Mart. The rebate sticker wrapped around the neck of the bottle has Wal-Mart printed on the back, even though it is a Shell coupon, so I have to assume it is associated with them. If I could ever figure out why I cant post pictures, or attachments into these threads, I would scan one so you could see.

Here is a link to the image. The best I can do.

Thanks for posting that, Scott!

The fine print states that you can't reproduce the rebate form, so I have to find one at Wal-Mart. Looks like I'm stocking up early this year!

you can't post 'attachments' (inline in a message) because u are not a paid subscriber.
to post pics,() you have to put them someplace else, and link to them..
your profile, gallery, photobucket.. whatever..

you included the earlier picture as a 'link' and not a 'picture'.. when creating the post message in advanced edit, use the mountain button to tell the editor its a pic and it will wrap it with the right forum tags..

and, for filedropper, you have to be logged in to see the picture.. and I can't login as u..
so u need to find someplace else to put them

Sam

Yeah, I had no trouble getting to his link. Looks like he scanned the rebate form and uploaded it.

Now I have to find it at wal-mart!

Tom, the coupons were hanging around the bottles. If you happen to not find any, I have two extra ones as you only need one to send in the rebate. If that's the case give me your address again and I'll mail you one.
