Working in Vegas all weekend. That's alright.

The girls are getting prepared for some snow. They went shopping, and pulled in some wood for the stove. They're expecting a whole inch overnight. LOL

Hey Sean, is it too early to start planning for the 2nd annual "Pismo beach fun in the sun sand in your pants GTG"? Have to set it up for the day before the Stupor bowl se we can have the beach to ourselves like last year.

You're right Jim, it's just around the corner. Will do some planning and get it posted.

I'm back in ChiTown this weekend- cleaning gutters, hanging lights, enjoying all those bricks.

Briggs & Stratton makes the finest small engine you can buy, IMO. And they are made right here in the USA. No small feat, and they don't get the attention they deserve.

Nice short article about the Kentucky company.

The 3.5hp on my finishing machine turned 50 this year and other than a carb rebuild, a tune up & pulling the head to scrape off the carbon about 10 years ago I've never done a thing to it. Granted it doesn't see a lot of use (especially lately), but anything that lasts that long is OK in my book.

I agree, especially since letting them sit is about the worst thing for them.

I never had good luck with Tecumseh.

I think one of the best things Briggs has done over the years is to make a retrofit "electronic" (pointless) ignition kit available for their stuff.

My experience is that it makes them less temperamental to start.

My biggest problem with small motors is my laziness in not draining the fuel or adding a little stabilizer when they're going to be sitting. Both my pressure washer and my generator are presently suffering from the effects.

I've had that forgetfulness too. When we finally bought an expensive generator, I started treating the whole can of gas with Stabil. In fact, I usually put the Stabil in the can before I head to the gas station. Then everything gets treated, needed or not.

I made a few cutting boards for gifts this year.

They are fast and easy and cheap to make. Basically the process is to glue up stock like this.

Bandsaw or jigsaw them to rough shape, and then use a pattern bit in a router to finish shaping them. Run a roundover bit around all edges, and slobber mineral oil all over them and let it soak in for a couple of hours. Polish with paper towels, tie a ribbon on, and stick them under a tree.
