anyone happen to have a trailer plug harness laying around? went to swap my 7 pin plug out yesterday and broke the lock tab in my harness for the 7 pin plug. also seen that the 4 pin flat plug wires has been smashed and some insulation is broken. other than those minor details the harness still works. ford wants $110 dollars for just whats pictured. outch
be cool if i could replace the plug housing that has the lock tab but i cant seem to figure out if it comes apart or not. if i can fix it then ill just repair the chafed insulation on the 4 pin plug.
when i get a chance ill give a few ford only dismantles in sun valley a call see if they haven't scrapped all the wiring harnesses yet maybe ill get lucky. if not galpin stocks it (or so says ford parts.com) ill just eat the cost.
marv, i have the 7way to 4way adapter, but every now and then it grows legs. but it usually comes back. a few times having the 4/7way ford harness has saved me.
i did also spot the harness you mentioned on etrailer.com ( freaking awesome site btw!!!) but i figgured before i did anything id ask the locals if they had or knew of a stock harness like mine that they would be willing to part with for a bit of change.
all that is wrong with mine is the female end pictured for the 7way plug the outter plastic sleeve which houses the locking tab broke off and the 4 way flat wires are a little chafed which is a easy fix.
Spent part of the weekend changing spark plugs on the wife's 2005 Escape. Had the EGR valve stick open last weekend so I did a more thorough cleaning on it as well. Used a hand vacuum pump to actuate the valve while I sprayed it with cleaner. The car is like a whole new animal. Sooooo much smoother, quieter, power is much more even, and it does lag and jump near as bad when you put your foot into it. Hoping for a 1-2mpg gain, but we will see, plugs were definitely tired.
thanks marv, i actually have the split loom that came on it unless the wind blew it off the work bench, the tape was just peeling off.
All electronics is awesome, i have killed a many of afternoons there and done light damage to the pocket book in one stop.
just got back from a quick run to redondo beach to pick up a Craigslist find. its a Lindsey fish tape. old school and $10 dollars not bad.
the drive up and down the 405 was rather harsh. most bridge crossings it felt like i was airborne. and in between was a very harsh up/down shake. (yes i know its a 3/4ton truck). never have liked the 405, sure hope kiewit has enough money in the bid to repave that lumpy damn freeway.
sorry had a little rant while my kidneys stop shaken like a paddle ball.
The new pre-owned battery was stolen out of my trailer sometime this week. This stuff pisses me off. The trailer was in my driveway too, not on the street. It makes you feel violated.
that sucks. a buddy of mine his toy hauler got vandalized about 2 years ago. someone cut the propane hose and the 12V light cord, he was bent out of shape, cost him 150 dollars in parts and one mad rush night to repair it as we were going to glamis the next day.
batteries and propane tanks ive heard are common to be stolen off trailers. maybe get a chain and lock on your tanks before they grow legs.
after my friends problem with vandals we talked about making some locking straps for the batteries that would serve dual purpose of holding them in there little plastic boxes down to the tray and also a padlock to at least slow them down some.
id give ya a battery or two if i could trey, but i scrapped them all a few monthes ago. one place i found who buys them, giving $12 dollars a battery for recycle.

My wife wants to buy an expensive "commercial style" range. We've been to Universal Appliances and Pacific Sales but would appreciate any feedback on any other local vendors.
The best part of the whole process is that I get to point out to my wife how wonderful it is to own a truck so we can avoid the delivery fee. :-)
Just found out last night that my Uncle flew him around Germany on a training mission when he was a helicopter pilot in the Army. Pretty cool if you ask me.
Well, after 27 months of being unemployed, I finally got a job! I will be selling insurance! According to the sales leader, the company sells all kinds of insurance except auto, and homeowners. I have to take a 52 hour online course to prepare for the state license, and because I am a veteran, the company will pay the $59 dollar fee. Once I complete the course, I'll need to take, and pass, the state exam. I am going to try and get this course completed by the end of January, and take the test then, or early February. Then the sky is the limit on my income potential. Since I will be an independent insurance salesman, I can set my own hours, so I can keep my weekends free for gtg's
