Jim's news is also great news for the rest of us. It seems that businesses are growing and hiring. Let's hope the trend continues and we return to the pre-2008 prosperity with the additional understanding that we can't borrow money based upon potential future appreciation in real estate/business profits.
My duel fuel oven just had an electrical fire and needs to be replaced.
My wife wants to buy an expensive "commercial style" range. We've been to Universal Appliances and Pacific Sales but would appreciate any feedback on any other local vendors.
The best part of the whole process is that I get to point out to my wife how wonderful it is to own a truck so we can avoid the delivery fee. :-)
i've bought from them.... but the question is, what price range aree
you looking for... you can buy good stuff for reasonable money,
but if you want pretty bling, it gets steep fast, as i'm sure you know.
there's the english aga, and a couple french stoves that are stupid money...
best cooktop i've seen is an induction one that you can move pans around
on, and the cooktop follows the pan and maintains the heat you had set...
but, like i said, they get 'spensive fast... what price range are you looking
at?

She wants the 30" Viking. Our compromise is to buy the all gas unit at a savings of about $1,000 over the dual fuel unit. We looked at other brand ranges but settled on the Viking for the name, made in America, 3 year warranty, largest oven cavity in the 30" commercial style class.
I suspect I won't be getting any grief for my toy purchases for some time. :-). Maybe I'll get that AE after all???

Fulthrotl,
Just looked and there are a lot of really bad comments about Friedman's on Yelp. The comments were particularly biting when someone required post sale service.
I am hoping to be in the Long Beach area tomorrow so I'll try to stop there. If you have any other thoughts or dealt with someone in particular, I would appreciate the referral.
Today is my wife, Missy's and twin sisters' 50th birthday; we're off to Coronado for some din din and excitement. I'll give a wave to Mr Spreckels as we pass by.
Going up to Santa Clarita to do the ritual annual banging of pots and pans at midnight. Usually about twenty of the regulars, most of whom we see only once a year.
Marge is making egg rolls today to take, and she bought the most interesting-tasting dipping sauce in the local Oriental ethnic market. Imported from Thailand, it's a "Sweet Chilli Sauce" (sic), and I'm going to start keeping it around here for other things!
We always take the truck, as it puts a lot of steel around us on what could be a dangerous night.
Glad I was able to spend some time with you friends this past year, and look forward to the same in the upcoming. Glad we all survived the End of the World, unscathed, too!
