Yea this is about as many gauges as I can fit. I even had to get the smaller speedometer so I could cram them all in there.

I have some cool ideas for the dash. I want to get rid of the top vinyl top, make the dash look more like a 50's pickup. Simple, smooth, and sexy. More on that later.....

So the inside of my truck right now is a light grey. I was thinking just sand everything down and paint it with Satin Black Rustoleum spraypaint. This will include the door pillars, floor, roof, back of the cab. I'll prolly paint the floor and some of the back with bedliner to help insulate from head and sound. I think it would turn out pretty good, and its cheap! I'll prolly end up going with carpet or a vinyl flooring.

See I'm different in that I'm too stubborn to go smaller in the gauge size - so I'll cut a bigger hole in the dash - haha.

As for the steel top dash - I like the idea. I swear I've seen a pic of one done like that in the past somewhere

Not a ton of progress lately, but I got lots of goodies in the mail .

Finished up the glove box. Its actually pretty heavy, so I might make one out of thinner steel, or aluminum. But other than that I'm very happy with the way it turned out.

Some goodies came:

Power Doorlocks!

RCA Cables?? What would I need these for?

And a 4 gauge power cord??

And speaker wire???

A 600 Watt amp!!! This truck is gonna be pumpin!

Cruise control

Gauges:

Working on painting the interior as of late. Going to bedline the floor, and paint the interior of the cab satin black. Dash will be a dark gray or black, seats will be gray, and carpet will be gray. Its going to be boring, but i think it'll look good. Hoping to get the bedliner on Friday.

Oh, and picked this guy up last week. 2005 WR450. I got dirt tires for it too. Man this thing is fun!

Very cool man. Have fun with all the wiring. I sure have.

That glove box liner looks great. I've looked for a molded plastic one with no luck.

Blue Oval parts has the molded plastic ones for $25-30ish if I remember right.

I started making a metal one like this and then got a truck to part out that has a brand new cardboard one sitting in it. So I have that here.

I also have the molded plastic one out of an 86 bronco I parted that is close enough to almost bolt in. It's not the same for sure, but it's close so I may use that.

I just got the inside of the truck bedlined (pics to come). I'm going to Moab for some dirtbiking this week, and then I'm traveling for work next week. Hoping to get the dash done when I come back.

I was going to use Duplicolor Bedliner, but then I saw Rustoleum Bedliner for about 2/3 the price at Wally World. Not bad stuff. I don't know if I would use it on a truck bed, but it's not going to see a lot of hard use. I wanted something to dampen sound and insulate heat a bit, and something that was durable. I'll give a better review one it gets some use.

In Moab now. I'll update with pics when I get home.

Great build. The only thing I would have did different is use a ZF trans, the NV4500 and I don't get along.

The ZF6? I thought about it, but would have had to buy a pricey adapter. I think the NV4500 will be just fine for my application. We'll see, I never owned one

You might like it fine, I just don't care for the gear splits. I love those ZF6s though.

I agree on the gear ratios (just by looking at the numbers). But I won't be doing a lot of towing, at least right away. and with 500 hp I shouldn't need too much gear.

For reference:

ZF-6 Ratios:

1st 5.79:1
2nd 3.30:1
3rd 2.10:1
4th 1.31:1
5th 1.00:1
6th 0.72:1
Rev 5.23:1

NV4500 Ratios:

Gear:
1st 5.61
2nd 3.04
3rd 1.67
4th 1.00
5th 0.75
Rev 5.61

Yeah with that much power you can lug it and still scoot just fine.

I like how when guys try to argue the NV4500 vs ZF5 they post up the gas ZF5 ratios and say they're basically the same. Punch in the diesel ZF5 numbers and you'll see a much better gear spread. No such confusion with the ZF6.

If I was doing a Cummins swap I'd probably get the Chevy version of the ZF6 with a Chevy to Cummins adapter. Apparently it has a few improvements and Chevy adapters are cheap. Unless I decided to do it in stages and use my ZF5 for a while.

I'm looking forward to your first drive. It's going to be awesome!

Finally got some pics of the bedliner. Not much work done on the truck lately. I've got a 3 day weekend coming up, so hoping to get a little work done. Going to start on the HVAC stuff.
