Hell yea! I think these dentsides are the coolest trucks ever built, and the 5.9 Cummins one of the best diesels ever built. Just trying to build the truck the Ford should have built!

Funny thing is, those first generation Cummins engines are pretty much the same technology as the Dentsides.......an inline 6 diesel with a turbo.......Dodge offered a NA Mitsubishi in the late 70's, and IHC offered the Scout II with a NA Nissan inline 6 for about 3 years late 70's, and added a turbo to the final model year in 1980, the SD33T........101 blazing HP.......Ford has enjoyed a pretty dominant position in the light truck market, can you imagine if they had gone into partnership with Cummins? Back in 89, Dodge was literally selling its trucks to a few big municipalities, utility companies, and large fleet owners who wanted a good deal buying a bunch of trucks at once..........Ford and GM were killing the Dodge boys all through the 80's, right up until they offered the Cummins......
If you haven't done it already I strongly recommend doing the killer Dowell pin fix on the timing cover. I looked at the picture with the timing cover off and it hadn't been done yet. I have a 12 valve and that is a problem with those engines. It won't take but a few minutes to do it. But everything else is bad @$$
Ok all, its opinion time! Watching the Betty Build got me thinking about the clearance for my AC compressor.
Currently I have exactly 1/2" of clearance between the engine cradle and the AC Compressor. Do you guys think this is enough? Note that I have polyurethane bushings and not rubber bushings, so the flex should be minimal during reving. I'd rather fix this now, than have it hitting when the whole thing is together.

Yea, I fixed the KDP. I can't find any pictures of it, but I'll snap a few when I take the timing cover back off.
Whew that's tight. But also a pain to fix. If your pulling the engine again I say fix it. If not I'd play it by ear. That's something your going to have to decide. How much more work you want to do?

Not really that much more work. I can do it without pulling the engine. There's enough room in there to make the fix.
I'll look into grinding the housing too, see how much material i can take off.
That's true. I didn't think about taking the pump out. Looks like you could take the corner off of your crossmember and re plate. You'd have plenty of room then.
