Android Torque App
OK, 3100 miles round trip with the Torque app. It worked great with only a few problems. Sometimes the trans temp would stop working and I would need to shut it down and restart. The VGT gauge is a little questionable. It usually read in the 40s at highway speed and the boost at about 12 or so, but would sometimes go to 85 when I was climbing a hill and the boost was up. It seemed to lag behind what was going on. The boost gauge acted up a little only when on cruise control. If the truck started a climb and shifted down, the boost gauge would read a negative number, then go to what looked normal (20-23psi on hard uphill runs). This only happened when on cruise, when it shifted down when I accelerated it worked fine. I realized that if I waited for everything to connect before I opened the app it worked better. I did get a p0299 code while towing. I found a lot of threads about the code, but I think mine was caused as suggested by a greater than 15 delta on ECT and EOT which was normal while towing. I reset the code and it hasn't come back since I unhooked the 5er. Overall I am very satisfied with the less than $35 I invested.
Thanks for coming back and sharing. I haven't seen those glitches on mine, but I haven't been using it much lately.
Did you happen to e-mail yourself the data logs?
Would be interested to see if the "Trans" logs are corrected yet.
Glad you had a good trip!

I tried but all I got was trip log. I guess I didn't figure that part out. The problems could have been caused by my phone. I am using the LG Optimus. Plus I did get the cheapest bluetooth adapter from ebay.
By the way, my trans temp never left the 170s even on the steep passes. My coolant temps got in the 220 and oil in the 240 range on some of the steep grades when the outside temps were in the 105 range. But, when the fan came on it cooled it right down just like it should. I did loose a little coolant on the way out. I stopped and got some at the dealer in Cody and added about a 1/4 gallon of coolant and 1/4 gallon of distilled water. It looked like it spewed a little out of the cap. Now I have a little too much in so it probably didn't spew that much. I assumed it was the bottle cap since I didn't lose any on the way back after I cleaned it and reinstalled. But I did run over one of those stupid posts they put in the ground to keep you from running over stuff. So now I need a new pass fender, wheel center and fender trim. I guess I can't complain. Thats the first time I have hit anything in 30 years of driving.
PLEASE HELP ME!
I know this is a older post but I have a issue with this app that I can NOT seem to figure out. I have set the app to use pre set PID's for ford powerstroke but my EOT reads 32 no matter what, will not change from 32. I have seen some people talk about changing the equations but when I try to change the equation it says its not a valid equation. can someone PLEASE help me with this? I would really like to get this working ASAP. Thanks in advance
Just recieved my adapter over the weekend and I'm very happy with the setup. All gauges are working except boost and egr. The boost gauge @ wot reads as a vaccum. And I have only seen the egr cycle move once. Don't get me wrong, if my egr isn't cycling I won't mind, but if its an error with the app I'd like to get it sorted out. Any ideas?
Turn on Torque APP
Go to "settings"
Go to 'manage extra IDs/Sensors'
find 'engine oil temp'
touch it.
touch 'edit'
this is what you will see:
221310
short name: EOT
MIN- 0.0
MAX- 300.0
SCALE- x1
Unit type- C yes, C
Equation: enter this one, it's easier and works: (((A*256)+B)/100)-40
OBD header- Auto
Now exit and go set up a gauge.
when it gives you the list to choose your gauge scroll down to "engine oil temp"
Do not use "Engine oil Temperature"
Now you should be able to read EOT.
And now that you are in this, need to fix trans temp.
Follow the same steps, but when you get down to the OBD Header, make sure it is changed to TCM.
Then when you go to select the gauge you want make sure you select "Transmission Fluid Temp" NOT THE OTHER ONES!!!

This is the same equation I use.

I would just like to say thank you to the guys that have posted on this thread. This Toque app is very good and the issues I have had up to this point with it all were resolved on this thread. Thanks. Now on to the question, can this app read fuel pressure at the fuel injectors ? If so which PiD is it ?
As far as I know it cannot read fuel pressure. it will only read oil pressure at the injectors.
On a seperate note, anyone have any ideas as to why boost reads as vaccume @ wide open throttle? The number is correct, its just negative. it seems to happen when boost climbs above 22 psi. Anything lower, and it correctly reads as positive.
