At first, I wasn't picking the right Trans temp gauge. There are 3 to choose from. I am using the one titled "TransFl"

The $5.00 is a great investment, and helps the developer with more usefull applications! Where do i buy the app? Thanks Curt

OK. I went back to the drawing board. I added the other 2 trans temp gauges that are available to see what they indicated. When I started the truck trans and coolant were within 2 degrees of ambient. EOT was way off. So I changed the C to F in the EOT settings and it went to within 2 degrees. As I drove the trans and coolant were showing the same temps. So I checked the other trans gauges. One wasn't indicating anything and the other was in the 130s. So I switched the 2 and these are the results. I drove it about 10 miles at 50-60. Temp outside around 77. Trans never got over about 166. Coolant between 192 and 196, maybe hit 199 once. EOT ran about 9 higher than coolant. I think it went up to 209 when the coolant was at 199. However, just like some people report, when slowing down the coolant temp drops faster than the EOT so I saw some deltas of up to 15. But, at steady speed the normal is about 8-10. I really appreciate all the help. This is a great app and with a little work it does what you need it to do.

I had to go out and look at the system again. I haven't used it in a while.

I went a head and compared them to my Scangauge II, again, and they matched.

The tranny reading you are now seeing looks better.

This is a fun app, I just use it now for longer drive trips. I mainly leave the SGII up and running for my commute.

I might think about grabbing another Android phone like you mentioned and use it. I do like the data log.

Thanks for all your help on it. I hope this thread helps other people who buy the app also. I was thinking about getting a new phone anyway. I may do that and use the LG Optimus that I have now just for gauges. The weak link in my system is the windshield mount I bought at Target. I'll be on the lookout for a better one. I will post more results as I drive the truck. I am ready to see how it reacts when I hit the Rocky Mnts next week. I have only pulled the new 5er a few times. My old 5er was a little shorter and about 1500lbs lighter. I especially want to see what all the temps are under load in the heat. Now I guess I better go change the coolant filter. Thanks again.

I had a heck of a time getting my suction cup to stay stuck to the glass. Really was ticking me off. One down side to my "like" of using the phone.

Then, I read somewhere to put dish soap, a very fine coating to the suction cup. Thought, "yeah right!". Well, it hasn't fallen off in months!

Who'd thunk! (probably everyone on here does that, I'm just behind times)

Looking forward to seeing your post on the trip.

Do you have your email set up in the phone? When you get to the top of one of those "small" climbs ( ) send the data log to yourself and see how it reads out.

Happy travels!

We went shopping today. I was at TJMaxx with the wife and found another windshield mount for $7. It is way better than the first, almost perfect. I'm at $46.33 for the whole deal. Pretty good for what it does. I had my son call me and its easy to take a call and put it on speaker, then goes back to the gauges.

It's a great scan tool also. It also shows me what my Strategy is in my ECM.

Again, worth the $5.
I have just been reading this thread. Thank You for showing some integrity..
Stealing the app from the developer is ....... Well, I can't say it nice.

Have fun with your Rig

Good Job..... Like to see the integrity of you and others (Sean) on this thread

My wife is retiring from the Air Force next October and Great Falls is on my short list of potential places if we relocate. I have never been there but we lived in Mountain Home, Idaho for almost 3 years. I have been to Moscow and just North of Yellowstone. I want to get to Glacier before the big meltdown that they claim wil happen in the next 10 to 20 years. I agree with you about the app. If you look at the website for this app, the guy has spent a lot of time and energy in development and I would have paid a lot more for it now that I see how good it works. The only problem I have had is yesterday it would only display coolant and trans temps. I rebooted the phone and it took care of it. So I have to blame that one on the phone.

Take a look at GTF.... a bunch of retired folks here. MAFB is a nice little base. Commisary is nice .... BX is a bit small, but what the heck.
Nice city/town.... Everything ya need an small enough to be friendly and not crowded. I am surprised of the number of "other than AF" retirees. In my little neighborhood (just outside city limits) there are 4 navy, 1 CG, 2 Army and about 10 AF that I know of.

Have Fun in Yellowstone

Thanks to this thread I bought the app and am waiting for my adapter. Just got one from ebay for now. Ordered from the same guy as TracyClifton. Just wondering did you guys change all the Temp units from *C to *F in the PID options?
