It was working for a while, then it went out on me, it does not move at all
Can it be an electrical issue thats causing the problem?
I remember a couple of months ago when all my gauges wouldnt work, but my engine temp did
Then one day my dad went behind the cluster and banged it, then all of a sudden all the gauges began to work correctly lol
But i guess now the engine temp gauge is the only one thats not functioning
Here is a pic behind the cluster
What number is the engine temp located at?
I have a bout 2 or 3 that are missing wires...
Easiest way to check is to ground the sending unit wire at the temp sending unit... it should peg the gauge. If not, you'll need to start tracing the wire back thru the harness finding where the break occurred or test directly on the gauge intself.
I just got done today replacing the temp sender, mine was bad.
Like Bullit390 stated,ground the wire.
Take the wire that runs to the motor for the sender, ground it, and if all is well, the needle should move to hot.
Disconnect the wire at the temp sender and touch the terminal to the intake or engine block (bare metal) and observe what the gauge does. It should peg FULL HOT
Don't leave it there for too long neither, I imagine that can't be too good for the gauge.
