The temp gauge on my insrument cluster isn't getting a reading. i wouldn't have been so worried about this except the truck has been over heating. I unplugged it and plugged it back in but that didnt work.
Unplug the sender and ground out the wire to the temp gauge momentarily while you have a buddy look at your temp gauge. The gauge should show movement. Only ground the wire for a short time otherwise you could damage it.
If the gauge needle moves and starts to rise toward H, replace the sender.
If it doesnt, you will either need to replace the gauge or repair defective wiring.
There is a section on how to fix up your gages in the Read First: FAQ thread at the top of the forum. If you have to get in there it might be a good time to perform some maintenance.
