I wasn't ignoring you Jay. For some reason I couldn't get back on FTE after I posted last night. I thought the site went down so I gave up after a while
Well last winter I rebuilt the motor and then when I finally got a chance to test it out I backed in the water and realized I had water coming in quite fast. Turns out the shift cable bellow was tore open so I replaced that last night. Should be all good now I hope. I would like to do all the bellows just because but that will wait till this winter I think.
I like this idea. In fact, I think you should do it twice, since everything is so much easier the second time

I'm looking to get the hot air out. There are no roof vents other than on the ends of the house and a broken power vent. I'm probably going to start by fixing the broken power vent. I might need to seal off the ends and open up the soffets to prevent a short circuited air flow. Ice dams are also a problem in the winter. I'm hoping that by insulating and getting the hot air out, this will help that problem as well.
If that doesn't work, I'm looking at a whole house fan as well to pull the air through the house. My parents had one in CO. It was very effective. It won't take care of humidity, but it will at least reduce the load on the air conditioner.
I did change the filter tonight. It was definitely due. Air flow is definitely increased. We'll see if it makes any difference upstairs.
Time for bed. Night all!
You don't have any roof vents on the top of your house, just the soffits?

I could not either so I gave up. Seems like a lot of nights FTE goes wonky about that same time.

Good Morning all.
He said there were vents on the gable ends only. Definitely help to get some roof and soffit vents.

Yup, when one goes the others aren't too far behind!

There are no roof vents other than a broken power vent. There are vents on the peaks of the gables. I'm not even sure the soffits are open. The bottom side is vented, but I haven't looked to see if they are sealed above the siding or not.

If there are not vent chutes in the attic rafters odds are things are blocked from air flowing through there Michael.
