Strange thing about Chuck (axracer). He was a wealth of knowledge on this site but something happened and his computer was hyjacked. They wanted money to allow him access to his stuff. Then he just disappeared. I believe he also had health issues. He sure is missed.

He asked us to help pay his ransom. He thought we owed it to him for all the help he had freely given. I had no problem with him but some didn't get along with him.

I didn't know that. That was an odd request given how independent minded he seemed to be. So that is a good reason to have good, up to date antivirus software particularly if you are using a PC. It is worth the investment.

I would have thought he was more tech savvy than to run his computer with outdated antivirus. But it’s still sad to have lost a contributor to the sight. He definitely was short with folks thinking about frame swaps and a zillion horse power engines. Sometimes he just said what needed to be said but just not very gently.

Make sure you AV is also a malware scanner and blocker. But besides that. It's not a matter of if you get infected adn loose your computer. It's a matter of when. So always make sure you back you stuff up. Online cloud syncing is cheap insurance.

At the time Ax had the computer problem there was a virus that was very hard to stop and infected a large number of computers around the world. I owned a computer service bureau (we do your work on our computers not the fixing type) and my tech guys caught it by luck. We notified all of our clients and still some got the same virus. I even posted it on this forum but he was already infected.
Ax was a character to say the least but he was a very good about helping with a problem. He just didn’t want to have to tell you twice.
Hope he is doing ok as I think this and a few other things he posted have been very helpful to a lot of us hammer mechanics/welders

His hood hinge info, and front end alignment was very informative.

Well, since we're all talking about Chuck as if he's passed, he was most recently on FTE in January. So he's just not contributing anything lately.

lmao, there is no 'cloud' it's just somebody else's computer! But it's been a great marketing win over the masses!

You are correct. No body’s ones and zeros’s are floating around in white fluffy molecules of air.

I should have said. There are plenty of vendors out there that are willing to supply end users with software applications that allow the user to sync and store their data to a encrypted and certified data center. Where their data will be duplicated and synchronized across several storage arrays and then replicated to other redundant data centers around the globe.

Thats much easier than saying “the cloud”. LOL.

Im just messing with ya. In case my sarcastic humor didn’t come across in text.

I wonder if AXracer I still alive. I think he's in his mid seventies.
