Yes, that's what I was trying to describe above, just didn't do a good job using words.
Maybe I didn't do such a good job of understanding.
Many thanks to the both of you.
Looking forward to practicing this weekend. Another motivated student, Ax.
Bumped up this thread because I want to thank Ax for suggesting the easy grind mig wire. Using your excellent instructions it was easy to install and adjust the welder for the new wire. The stuff works great and is much easier to grind and sand.
Also bumped it up in case some newbies haven't seen it. Great thread, thanks again Ax
Well wow! I never knew about the ez grind. Would have been great to know before I did my rockers in my chevy truck! I have a Miller 135 that I figured I would retire/sell now that I have my Tweeco 211i. But I may just keep that one for sheet metal work and leave the ez wire in it.
I sure like that Tweeco machine so far. It's actually lighter than my Miller.
I printed this thread off about a year ago and revisit it time to time. I actually read through it today after lunch sitting by the fire. I am glad Ax took the time to put it together, this one and the patch panel repair thread. Thanks Ax, Merry Christmas.

I am in !
Been a machinist for 49 years, always had somebody close(in the same building) that could/would weld anything I needed, I never learned.
I am bound and determined to learn on my 51.
Thank you very much.
Greg
I have been making OK welds and crap welds for years-mostly luck when it worked out. I have learned a ton and now have the easy grind wire.
Just got a TIG from Eastwood and hope to practice on some "coupons" over break.
I read this through several times before I bought my welder and took a welding class. My coworkers bought the class for me when I retired. Guess they were glad to get rid of me after 42 years.
