Well I went and looked at a 79 Bronco this afternoon. Looks great from 10'. After some looking around found rust @ both front floors fairly big, drivers door jamb bottom corner. A little rust in a few spots on the body but nothing through.

Body lift 35" tires with a little wear left. side moulding and racetrack trim, front and rear bumpers very nice, seats good. Glass is all good. Engine out and in garage. Former owner broke original 351. The engine to go in is a 429. Set up for propane and gas. The engine isn't set up for propane. Has brand new clutch and waterpump. Comes with engine stand engine is on and winch bumper.

Asking price is $2500.00. Should be able to get at $2000.00. What to do?????????

The biggest problem is there are none within at least 300 miles from here.

Hmm, 2k huh? Thats a bit of a stretch, is the motor finished and ready to go in? As for the rust that is petty stuff, i was told mine was rust free and now i see major cancer in the top of the door frame, and i found out i have a lot on the floor boards. I don't see it being through but it has eaten the first layer of metal. The PO sorta super glued this raggy crap carpet down and when i pulled up a bit to hide my sub wiring and the carpet was falling apart. I need to rip it out, kill the rust and replace it with either a stock type carpet or a liner or something. The bottom corner of my door has been eaten through on the inside, the TG has a small amount of rust. The bed rails have been bondoed and there was 3 bolt holes that were filled in.. No telling what other rust is on there under paint or whatever. It is a work in progress, though i don't know how i am going to get rid of the door frame rust... I could probably cut the whole section off and maybe replace it or just smash up the rust there and bondo it. I don't know yet.

Anyways, i think if the motor is run ready and the seller is pretty honest about the issues you should get it as a project. You can't have reward without risk

Dylan Try Goggling a product called Ospho. The Military has used it for years. I find it here at like Napa and the hardware stores.

Thanks for the tip there Rich, i noticed it said they may sell that in smaller quantities at ACE hardware, we have one a few miles away so i might check it out later. That would work well for the floor and maybe the door frame, though i would have to bondo over it to get the door frame smooth. I don't want it to look all eaten away, as for the floor i wouldn't care as much on the look cause it will be covered.

Forget carpet, Diamond plate is what you need! That'd be cool but I imagine itd be pricey...

I have factory rubber on the floor of mine. No carpet at all. I love it. Blow it out with air or water. Even steam clean. No rust in all her life.

Well the Bronco didn't pan out. He wouldn't go below 2 grand. I offered 1500 or 1600 if the dash pad was good.

I finally got the spare tire and carrier mounted back on The Bronk yesterday. It is so very tight that it should have no rattles at all. I'll try and get some pics in my thread of it. I got to go to town today so maybe when I get back.
