I love mine also. Just wish I could get this starter issue fixed. I took out the shim and with the half worn drive gear it sounded much better. So I put on a new starter drive. No cigar. It is still as bad as ever. I'll pull it back out weather and old body permitting and try and figure out again just what is wrong. There just has to be a way to fix this right.
Fun? Heck yes. It's my daily driver. Bout 130 miles round trip to the store and that about twice a week. Hasn't failed me yet. But if I ain't going somewhere I am tinkering on her. Easy to work on without all the EFI stuff.
I did the hinge pins on my 82 mustang, even though it did nothing to help, it was fairly easy. From what i could guess someone leaned on the door while it was fully open and cause one of the welds to break on the top door side of the hinge. It never closed properly in the year that i owned it.
This situation is different though, the issue isn't enough to concern me and the passenger door is cause the front fender on that side is messed up and miss aligned. I could fix it, i am just a bit lazy
Sure was. It was hot like crazy too. Working around a black truck in the sun may not be the smartest thing to do. Yes I did it by myself. They didn't want to move at first. I sprayed them and waited a bit. Finally they came out then had to punch out the bushings.
Been messing around getting my custom bumpers finished up. Got the back all welded together and shot some primer on it about a week ago. Just finished cutting out the mounting brackets for the front. Don't like how the top bar looks for the front though. Might be making some adjustments to the passenger side of it. Still gotta get more plating for the front, not to mention a stainless steel sheet for the skidplate and some Sol-Tek's for the finishing touch. But, sadly... The money is tight for me at this point in time. God I hate being broke most of the time, lol...
Id love a custom bumper, wish I had the money to make one.
Also I was thinking, while watching some videos on youtube I noticed alot of people are getting there bronco up to 4500-5000rpm on take off all ive watched have been automatics. I can only get mine up to 3500- 4000 before it shifts. Just curious why this is? Could tire size and gear ratio cause this at all?
Thinking of a 6" lift sooner or later with some 35s with spinners.
Yeah dude!
I think the size of tires would be a contributing factor, if you have stock gears and 33's then doesn't that make the motor and trans spin faster to turn the tires? Or something, i don't know. With mine, i have 35's with 2.73 gears and my speedo is still 5 mph slow.
On a brighter note, i have moved up the in Carburetor evolution I messed with my carb cause it wasn't running good. Well that and playing with the timing made it much worse so about 3 hours ago or so i was at a park taking with friends and decided to play with it again and without a timing light it appears i have set it at 10 degrees BTDC I think. I haven't hit it with the light yet to check but it seems around there. Then i played with the screws and turned them all the way in then out about 1 1/2 each and fired it up. From there i adjusted till it sounded smoother and kicked the idle up. Now there is very stuttering and missing but i have another issue. When i press the brake to come to a stop sign or light the motor starts cutting out and shuddering. My step-dad says the Low Idle isn't adjusted properly and i have to find out which one it is to fix it. Tomorrow thats the plan if it isn't raining. I just hope it isn't the left one cause that one is close to the upper coolant hose and the coil and there is plug wires everywhere... Makes it hard to adjust.
Anyways off to look for a 2150 Manual
Was this before or after I tweaked it for ya? Low idle adjustment, sorry no such thing, look all you want, you won't find it.

Uhm dude, a 1406 and a Q-jet are in NO WAY the same carb. They share one or 2 design features but that's it. The Edelbrocks like the 1406 are an evolution of the Carter AFB. Edelbrock does make new Q-jets but the 1406 is not one of them.

NO tire size and gear ratio should not directly effect launch RPM. Lauch RPM has many factors, ALL having to do with the transmission and how it's launched.
