Just went and fixed the firing order on the '74.
Two or 3 of them were off, and it was 180 off. We are surprised the damn thing even ran.
Now however, it is backfiring through the carb and not firing.
I believe my timing may be off?

Are you sure it was 180 off? Carb backfires are from having the timing way too advanced. The spark event is occurring while the intake valves are still partially open. Did you do any work that would affect cam timing?
