Diary Update:
So after driving it around town yesterday i was feeling pretty sold about it making it over to Mom's house, about 20mi., the next day. got up this morning loaded up the truck and set out. Little did I know that the fuel pump was not ready. So i had my first break down, after clearing all the fuel lines and the filter I ran down to the parts store and picked up a new pump. Installed the new pump and still could not get it to suck, i blew down the feed line to the tank and didn't hear any gurgling, CRAP. tossed a gallon of juice in and fired it up. so as is sit i'm getting about 5-7mpg, that's gonna have to change.

If you are running a mechanical fuel pump make sure to check your oil for gas.

well, from my last post i found i was just out of gas, happens when you don't have a gauge. Moved up to Michigan and got i driving for a bit and clocked it at 11.5mpg, up until the motor finally gave out. I found two vertical cracks in the #3 cylinder wall.

That was all last year, so at this point i'm weeks away from running the second time with a newer 4.9L, just need an alternator, only a $100 for a new 3G, and a power steering pulley.

Looking forward to seeing some more updated pictures of the truck in its new home. The girlfriend and I are headed to Kalamazoo some point this summer, it's only a 3-4 hour drive for us I guess. May see you cruising around in the old truck!

Just found your thread. I wish I saw it earlier. I am putting a 300 6 in a 56 f100. I see you are near by also, I am about 35 miles north of Lansing. I have a good 300 6 still in a 92 f150. I drove it back from Grand Rapids 120 miles -a good engine. I took the trans out but I will sell you either the whole truck or just the engine cheap. But it is a FI engine with no provision for a mechanical fuel pump. PM me if interested, or even if not interested I would like to see your truck and talk to you about different ideas and to compare notes-so to speak. I like your wiring diagram for the duraspark. Is that what you ended up doing? I am at that point now. I bought a 1 wire ford alternator made by Tuff Stuff from Summit for mine but it's not wired yet. Thanks Greg.

Lots, so went on a few around the block test drives last fall and the flywheel bolts backed out and got into the pressure plate, so a new LuK Clutch, flywheel and all. So as it sits the clutch pedal needs adjusted and some carb work. The pic is at the new house, it started getting hot so I pulled over pulled the hood and drove on. Its crazy the amount of heat that thing holds. And in all that we are due for our first child the first of June.

That sucks about the flywheel bolt. Always use red loctite on flywheel bolts.

You Roadkilled it! Sounds like it's time for either a larger radiator or a visit to a louver press for the hood.

Congrats on the first child.

I'm still here, trucks been sitting since last September, pretty sure I burnt the coil or something, no ballist resister. So I'm rewiring it.
