i get alot more ice/snow build up on my headlights with 55w HIDs then my halogens. the halogens seem to produce alot more heat. idk just what i've ran into with my trucks.
Hiw did you get the grey factory locking rings to fit over the bulb? Mine is about 2" thick and I can't get it over the back bulb housing because the wire comes out of the side a little, making it so the inner "thread" would break if I force it ocpver the wire.
OK. Here goes best as I can.
The hid headlight with the kit is 2 part. On the back of the housing you will notice it says lock and unlock. Twist it to unlock and the two parts will separate. I know you know, but don't touch the bulbs!
Now for the back part, I had to run the factory lock retainer from the end of the wiring loom up to the back of the HID housing. Its a tight fit and it will work.
Now place the bulb section in the factory retainer from the front you will have to line up the 3 or 4 notches and it will drop in and twist.
The tricky part is you have to recouple the two parts. Push hard (watch the bulb) and twist it clockwise I believe back to the lock position. (double check that) You will now have a complete unit ready to install in the housing. Before attempting to install in the housing, hook all the wires because the are hard to see when its all said and done.
The new HID bulb fixture is an extremely tight fit. Line the notches back up, push hard and twist clockwise towards the passenger side.

I.................Buffalo, today we got some rain and these Ultras perform really bad with wet ground...have you noticed the same thing? I looked it up briefly and some guys on a crown vic forum were reporting the same thing.
Have't noticed, but I'l pay attention the next time it rains. Might be a month for the temps to warm up enough though...... -2F this morning at 8 a.m.

Wow, I thought I was freezing in the low 50 degree weather here in South Texas...that is what happens though when it is 80 degrees one day and 50 the next...you can never adapt
We finally got some much needed rain down here...I had noticed the lighting performance in the rain before but I figured it was just the crappy lens that are on the Excursion right now. I believe this is another side effect of that "pure white" blue-tinted bulb. The added bit of yellow from the other non-tinted bulbs will yield better wet weather performance.
Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest impact Robert!
Now where are the pics!
No pics yet 'cause I couldn't figure out how to get the rings over the bulbs. Plus I still have the stock housings...need to find a good set to swap them with. Not sure if I want the individual housing and turn signal or the combined one. I will be figuring out where to put the ballast mounts while I figure out the headlight reflector situation.
