RI 2012 BS thread - lets get some chatter
Tim,
thanks for stopping by and visiting the smallest state with the least activity.
allways a pleasure to have the big guy stop on bye.
we just got some sprinkles here, which helped bring the temp and humity down!
it was like a little gift from heaven!

Hope everyone has had a good monday, and has an even better monday night.
for those that are interested, here is the weekend update 1956 crew cab build
just stopping in to wish everyone a good day, and remind everyone to buy enough food for their cookouts tommorrow.
weather permiting, I hope to be working on my 78 f250, trying to button up some of the back on the road blues.
I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

I had an interesting day.
Found a Toyota power steering box for my 56 project, found a 56 COE that I want to buy(just need to find the money), tried fixing my fuel tank issue in my 78 super cab (didnt fix it yet
), was summoned to my parents house to fix dads computer, again....
. All in all my fourth was interesting, I dont think I could have had so much fun at a cook out. lol.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
1956 coe body on F100- F250(didnt notice lug pattern) chassis, with a long pickup bed
What is wrong with the 78 tank?
Well..... the truck will idle in either the front tank or the rear tank.
If you try to drive the truck on the front tank the truck stumbles and dies, but will restart and drive fine if you switch to the rear tank.
The rear tank.... well the truck runs fine off it.... but the fuel level sender isnt working. And the only way to really check if the float is bad (filled with fuel and acting like a boat anchor), or if I have a sender that failed is to drop the tank.
Im going to have to pull the rear tank and test the sender manually and either replace the sender or the float.
I have to pull the sender from the front tank (much easier) and check the screen for debris. Replace the filter/screen/sock if it is dirty, re-install and fill with fuel and give her a whirl.
If the truck still stalls on the front tank, I will have to bypass the brand new fuel tank switching valve and see if the switching valve is the issue.

Ohhhhh and to add insult to injury.....

When I was trying to start the truck to test the switching valve.... the radiator started leaking.
So once I figure out the fuel issue, I have to swap out the 4core radiator with the spare I have.
Actually, if you see a COE on a 1/2 ton chassis, somebody put it there. (crazy people like me)
They never built a COE pickup truck.
But I do also, unfortunately mine are daily drivers.
Does kind of sound like something is clogged in the front tank.

Good morning Tom and Jim

Just hung around the house for the fourth, my wife has to fix dad's computer once a month!

You do have some projects ahead of you Tom, that front tank does sound like debris, or could it vapor lock?
Good luck buddy and have a nice day
Yeah, Jim.... I could work 40+ hours a week on my projects and stay busy every day.
Problem is the Money runs out too fast.

Unfortunately I have to work today and tomorrow (even though we have no customers calling or coming by).

I hope to tackle the 78 either Saturday or Sunday.
I honestly dont think its a vapor lock issue. If it was i would have the same issue with both tanks. Im thinking its a debris issue or a tank switch issue on the front tanks.
And
Either a bad float, or a bad sender for the rear tank.
we shall see.
