RI 2012 BS thread - lets get some chatter
On Saturday we ordered a 2012 ford focus sel for my mother in laws friend that just moved here from england..and we pick it up on thursday
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I completely tore the truck down to the last rivet(frame rivet) sand blasted everything on the chassis, replaced every rivet with SS bolts. New fuel lines, brake lines, rebuild fuel tanks, cleaned senders, new floats, rebuilt trans, freshened up engine, new universals, new brakes, new calipers, new brake booster, new master cylinder, refurburished proportioning valve, new wheel cylinders, new motor mounts, new trans mount, new transfer case mount, new exhaust, new headers, refurbised radiator, new thermostat, hoses, clutch fan, voltage regulator, new floors, new (dennis-carpenter) steel cab mounts, all new body bushings(lmc), new cab corners, passenger bed side,

My first issue was a charging issue. The alternator was only putting out 12.5 volts. While that will keep things charged, it isnt enough. And on top of that .... I had a what seemed to be a dead short somewhere.
I changed the alternator... nope... still 12.5
!!I pulled all the fuses... battery still dies

Only thing else I could think to do was to change the voltage regulator.
Go to autozone, grab a new voltage regulator, plug it in.... and 13.5....14.1...14.5.... on the meter... problem solved

Then......
When I took the truck out for a test drive, I realized that turning to right wasnt happening without taking up 3 lanes.
I had made a 6" lift for the truck while it was apart and over the length of the build I bought a dropped drag link, and bought a 3" dana 60 knuckle lift block to correct the steering angles created by the lift.
Well I never extended the drag link to correct the left to right steering.

So I adjusted the drag link, and changed the stops on the knuckles to reflect the slight loss in the new turning radius, the wheel now turns left and right an equal amount (two complete turns of the steering wheel).
Hopefully this School bus will now be able to turn better, but I havent been able to drive it since I fixed it on Sunday.

Hope everyone has a good hump day, and remember......its all down hill from here.
