Yes I've seen those comparison pics. IIRC, Conanski has posted some. It does seem that the truck 5.0 intake would flow better based on those pics. Just wondering if you had come across flow testing results that verified it, that's all. No insult intended.

Intake combo back from bead blasting. Time for a clean up & VHT hi temp.

Quick comparison of ported 5.8 lower to mostly unmolested GT40:

Ok the parts are coming together. Picked up an electric fan yesterday and noticed I still have all the pollution junk. Would like to do away with it and clean engine compartment up abit. Any issues with doing this. I live in Indiana not Cali.

The pollution stuff doesn't actually impact performance in any meaningful way, but if you must remove it, just leave the solenoids plugged in and connected. It will keep the computer happy.

Trying to figure out which rocker studs I need. I know the head and the rockers are both 7/16. But I don't know how long of a stud I need with 1.7 rockers. And also will I have any issues with rockers hitting valve covers.

Do alum heads use the same studs as steel heads.

Yeah, the screw in studs and guide plates should be the same. Usually it's the locks that are longer if you want to run a stud girdle.

I'm not heading to the garage this weekend or I could have measured the ones in my iron heads. Off the top of my head, I don't know.

No problem you've been big help. I may need some serious help if my wife finds out I put the lower intake in the dishwasher.

I have one dedicated to washing parts. It works as good as I need it to.
And the price is usually cheap.
A friend of mine uses solvent in his. It pumps it into a bucket above it, and gravity feeds it back in. Filter on drain pipe and check valve.
It's slow to fill, but it works. I think he dumps some in when it starts filling or something.

The pics untamed shows of ported lower looks he used a ball end endmill. If so I'm assuming use the ball end to rough then dremel to finish. Will take all advice I can get.

Google "aluminum carbide burr". That'll be what you want, they chunk the aluminum away in no time at all.

I used my milling machine and a 1" ball mill. I hogged out a lot of material that way.
I really hogged out the intake to be as big as the Holley systemax intake and my vortech igloo upper. It's a little bigger and squared off than the 302 truck upper.
I'll be milling the intake runners as well.

I have a lot of carbide burrs. The awesomest one is a 1/2" coarse ball, that's for aluminum. It hogs out a lot of material. Air die grinders are where it's at. I can get an intake done in a weekend.
