I don't have an account on FSB so have never tried it over there. All I can say about FTE is you need to be a Supporter in order to directly attach files to posts, the rest of us need to use an intermediary.

Why don't ya ask Gary for help next time you're over there. Even though he's on a Mac, at least some of what he can show you should be useful to ya.

Sounds like we need to talk. I can upload quite well to FTE. In fact, I'm out of room in my albums, and because I'm a supporter I have more room than most. I'm now having to delete before I can add.

Hey guys, I posted a mug like you asked and then before I went to work today I managed to grab my test light and fiddle around for about 10 mins. The solenoid and coil are both getting power when the key is in the run position, I was home alone so i could not get someone to turn the key while i was testing, hopefully i'll have more info tomorrow.

@ Gary.....if it is the ballast resistor.....how would i go about replacing that?

Actually, I don't know the answer to that. Hopefully someone else knows. If not, maybe I can figure it out from the shop manual tomorrow.

To replace the factory component would require unwrapping the wiring harness from the engine to the ignition switch, that'd probably suck.

I think you can get an externally-mounted resistor that's a replacement for some older Chrysler vehicles but it'd still need to be tied in to the ignition switch.

We'll cross that bridge if and when we come to it. But, the Chrysler's did use a separate resistor and you should be able to use that if need be. Good thinking, Chris. And I'm the one w/an old Chrysler.

I was poking around the net last night and MSD apparently makes an external resistor that is like 8 or 11 bucks which beats the heck out of a mechanics bill. But how would I go about wiring that in?

I guess I got lost. I thought there was going to be more info before it was determined that it is the ballast resistor. What did I miss?

I'm just trying to gather as much knowledge from you guys......everything I have looked at online has pointed to the ballast resistor, I'm just trying to stay positive and hope it is that. I'm almost 100% sure it is not the ignition switch and I'm about 98% sure that it is not the MSD box or coil, I just sent them an email to be sure.

Hey guys, it's been a while I know but work has been really busy. I got to tinker with the truck a little here and there but nothing too crazy. I forgot my neighbor was a mechanic so he is coming over later in the week to try and figure out the electrical problem. I was addressing some other issues while I had time and i've run into a problem with the power steering brackets. I contacted Jeff's Bronco Graveyard and they thought they had a set for a 302 but they could not find them. So I was wondering if any of you maybe had a set laying around?
